The tour departs from Accademia, just in front of the famous “Galleries” that host a very rich collection of Venetian paintings, facing the Grand Canal.
Riding along the San Trovaso canal we admire the Church of San Trovaso with its classical Palladian style. Nearby the Church we can see the famous Squero of San Trovaso which is a quaint, historic boatyard where gondolas are made. Along Rio San Trovaso in a suggestive position dating back to the seventeenth century, is one of the few dry docks still in operation in Venice. Formerly used for the construction of all types of vessels , dry docks today limit their activity to the production and repair of the gondolas.
The tour in gondola continues along a quiet residential area of Dorsoduro and admiring its beautiful Venetian Palaces in Gothic and Renaissance style. Returning back to the Grand Canal, we see Palazzo Grassi, a large museum, host of many modern art exhibitions and, Cà Foscari which hosts the main offices the Venice University.
The tour ends back at the original departure point.
